What you should bring with you:

  • The name of your general practitioner or referring consultant.

  • The names of any medications/drugs prescribed by a medical practitioner.

  • Any allergies or drug sensitivity.

  • General information on your medical history and relevant dates.

  • The approximate dates of any surgical intervention or operations.

Other considerations:

Please arrive approximately 10-15mins prior to your first appointment as you may be required to fill out some paperwork.

  • Please remember to bring your glasses should you require them for reading.

  • Please wear suitable clothing to enable you to undress easily or move more comfortably.

  • You may be asked to undress down to your underclothes and if you wish please bring along a pair of shorts for your comfort.

The consultation process:

  • The therapist will confirm all the relevant information regarding your address and date of birth.

  • The reason for you attending for an assessment/treatment will be established.

  • Any relevant history regarding your presenting issue or any previous issues will be noted.

  • A detailed questioning process will be undertaken to establish how your therapist can best help and advise you.

  • A physical examination may be undertaken in order to allow the therapist to make a more informed decision about your proposed treatment/management.

  • The therapist will discuss with you your expectations of your visit and how they feel these can be met and achieved with what they or the clinic can offer.

  • Goals/timescales. A proposal for the number of sessions will be discussed in order to achieve your agreed goals.

Appointment Duration:

  • Please allow 45minutes for your Initial/First Appointment with the physiotherapist.

  • It is usual for the therapist to allocate up to 30 minutes for your second and any follow up visits.

  • Please remember that you are not purchasing the therapists time but their expertise and clinical knowledge, i.e if your follow up session takes 20minutes and that is all that is required, the fee still remains the same as it would if your follow up session took 40 minutes.

What we would expect from you:

  • If you wish to cancel or change an appointment, please do this within 24 working hours of your allotted time.

  • This clinic does have a cancellation policy and if any appointments are changed or cancelled in under 24 working hours of the allotted time, will be charged.

  • Please ensure that you always take a printed appointment slip with you if a further appointment is required.

  • A text messaging service can be offered, and any patient providing a mobile number will automatically be set up for this system.

  • The text to mobile system is a reminder only.  The patient is expected to depend upon their appointment slip or own personal diary as their main reference.

Payment:

  • The clinic at present can only accept cash or cheque payments made payable to The Bexhill Physiotherapy Clinic, to be paid at the time of appointment.

  • We do allow bacs payments if this is discussed with the receptionist/secretary staff.

  • Those patients who come along via Health Insurance should bring at the time of their appointment, the relevant insurance documents giving their authorisation code or membership details etc (this particular information may vary from company to company).

  • This clinic does use a debt recovery service for any outstanding accounts beyond three months of the invoice date.

Cancellation Policy

This clinic does levy a fee from those patients missing an appointment unless they have given 24 hours notice.  This fee is 50% of the treatment cost.  Please contact us as soon as possible if you are unable to make an appointment so that this can be offered to other patients on the waiting list.

We take steps to ensure that patients are reminded of their appointments and provide the option of a text to mobile or email reminder service.

For those patients who are referred to us from accident claim companies, please note that the clinic does not get paid for any missed appointments.  We would therefore ask that you let us know in advance if you cannot attend.
